GERMAN TRADE AIM
DOMINANCE IN EUROPE DEFIANCE OF BLOCKADE (Reed. March 27, 9 a.m.) LONDON, March 26. A Berlin message states it is semiofficially stated that it is no longer possible to force Germany to her knees by a blockade. Germany’s living space is still insufficient to enable her to withdraw within her own frontiers. She must, therefore, continue to lister foreign trade. Here begins the importance of the German-Rumanian treaty. Germany’s territory is increased from 177,000 to 250,000 square miles. Recent events have assured her of the European predominance of German industry, whose capacity is now almost equal to that of the United States of America. It is officially stated that a GermanDutch trade pact has been signed. It will be effective from April 1 this year until December 31, 1940. It is declared that it will increase the volume of trade while its long duration shows mutual confidence and the stability of economic relations.
