TREBOR A BARGAIN THE CROONER IS WERE READY FOR EASTER By “Trenton” Trebor, whose live consecutive wins have been one of the features of recent racing in the Dominion, secured his two successes at Trenthatn in the sole interest of Mr. 11. W. Moss, of Wellington, who had bought out T. K. George's partnership interest in him after the Carterton meeting a few days previously. With the two further wins at the recent meeting, Trebor more than recouped the additional outlay required to purchase him outright. Now his success at Manawatu on Saturday entitles him to be considered a real bargain. Ma2ir Recovering Mazir, who sustained a strained ligament early in February, is making a good recovery. It is intended to put him into light work at an early date, and he will be kept going in view of early spring meetings. Nearing: His Best The Crooner has been thriving on pace work with sprints home, and his racing at the Manawatu meeting should bring him very nearly to his best for Easter. The four-year-old Nigger Minstrel horse appears to have grown since he was last raced, and he is showing no signs of soreness Night Raid Filly Homing, who showed some prominence on her first appearance at Waimate, is a two-year-old filly by Night Raid from Homedale. bred and owned by Mr. E. Steele, of the Elderslie Stud. Homedale is an Australian-bred mare by Rossendale from Hasten Home, by Holiday House, and she won good races in- Australia before being retired to the stud. Formal Local Debretts, who won her first race at the Poverty Bay meeting in July, 1937, and has not raced since she was unplaced on the second day of that meeting, has been acquired by J. Manuel and looks as if she may become useful. Debretts is by Defoe from Startle, and a half-sister to Quake. No Action Taken After hearing and reveiwing the evidence in the case of alleged interference with Galilee and Rollicker by Tosh, ridden by O. Evans, in the Borough Handicap at Rotorua on February 13, the stewards of Rotorua Racing Club decided,to take no action. Big Two-year-old One of the biggest two-year-olds at Awapuni is the Fox Earth Doliv Queen gelding, who is a member of D. G. Morris’s team. The handsome chestnut has made rapid progress in the past few weeks, and it is possible that he will be given his first race on Saturday. to again be one of the most troublesome for Beaupartir to beat. Property Sold The Woodville trainer F, W. Davis has sold his property at Woodville and will shortly take up his residence in the Auckland province. Davis will continue to train privately for Mr. W. 11. Gaisford. Davis’ stables were purchased by the Woodville Jockey Club. Tangled Goes South The steeplechaser Tangled was taken south by the Wingatui trainer F. Shaw when he returned home with Night Pal and Our Pal. Tangled is to compete in steeplechase events at Riverton. Last season he won the Riverton Steeplechase.
