THE GREAT NORTHERN FIELD OF 18 SO FAR By "Trenton" The Great Northern St. Leger Stakes, to be decided at the autumn meeting of the Auckland Racing Club, has attracted a Held of 10 so far, but there is a final payment on Friday, so that this number is likely to be reduced. Of the prominent ones left in. five of them contested the New Zealand St. "Leger Stakes at Trentham, Beaupartir winning easily from Peerless, with Old Bill a neck away. Beaupartir was second to Defaulter in both the Derbies, and Peerless was third in the same events. The latter won the Oaks at Rieearton, and after her food performance in annexing the Autumn Handicap, one mile and throe furlongs, at Trentham. she looks likely
