CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING
WAIROA ATHLETICS WEDNESDAY’S FIXTURE (Special to the Herald.) WAIROA, this day. The first club championships of the recently-formed. Wairoa Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club will be held on Wednesday, March 29, at LatAbton Square. The lengthy programme of over 20 events will comprise all those events which have been included in the programmes of the club meetings. The handicapp-er has nominated six starters in each event, and any other members wishing to start should en.er before 5 p.m. on Tuesday. Cups have been donated for sectional winners as follows: Senior sprint champion, 100, 220 and 440yd's; .senior distance champion, 880yds and mile; senior field events champion; junior sprint champion and junior distance champion. In addition, the Moores, Limited, Challenge Cup will be presented, to the senior champion, and a cup also will be presented to the junior champion. A further cup will be awardee! to the winner of the mile cycle race.
The handicapper, Mr. T. J. Morrison, has nominated the following competitors for each event, which are all olf scratch; —
