GERMAN FRIENDSHIP POLITICAL DEVELOPMENT BREAK FROM THE LEAGUE VIEWS OF ITALIAN KING (Elec. Tel. Copyright—Unite.l. Press Assn.) (Reed. March 24, 10 a.m.) ROME, March 23. King Victor Emmanuel of Italy in his third Parliamentary speech over a period of 30 years, spoke to-day at the opening of the Chamber of Fasces Corporations.
“Regarding 'France, my Government’s official note sent on December 17, outlined Italy’s demands, he said. “The sanctions at the time
of the Abyssinian campaign began a crisis, causing Italy s exit from the League of Nations which had exhausted its purpose.
The Italian and German friendship served the purposes of political and cultural development.
Italy, while not believing in the myth of perpetual peace, wanted peace as long as possible and therefore wanted to develop her armed forces. The recent crumbling of the artificial post-war constructions showed that difficult times were confronting the world. The British and Italian agreement created conditions which should be enduring and fruitful. DENIAL IN PARIS DEMANDS NOT PRESENTED (Reed. March 24, 11 a.m.) PARIS, March 23. It is officially denied that Italy has formally presented demands to France as -suggested in King Victor Emmanuel’s speech.
