VISIT TO MATAWAI

HON. A. HAMILTON’S TOUR (Special to the Herald.) MATAWAI, this day. The Hon. A. Hamilton, Leader of the Opposition, who is engaged on a tour of the North Island, received a cordial welcome from a gathering of Matawai residents when he visited the township yesterday. At a special luncheon he met the leaders of the local committees of the National Party, including representatives from Matawai, Otoko, Motu and Rakauroa. Afterwards he addressed a gathering of GO residents in the Women’s Institute Hall, speaking principally on the work of the committees and matters of party interest.

Afternoon, tea was served by a ladies’ committee, and Mr. Hamilton departed at 4 o’clock for Opotiki.
