DENTAL CLINIC EFFORT (Herald Correspondent.) A meeting of the Kopuawhara school committee was held in the school on Monday night, there being present Messrs. H. Taylor, chairman, F. Pemberton, secretary, A. Rolfe, J. Elliot and G. Read, head teacher. It was decided to give every support to the Opoutama school committee in efforts 'being made to secure dental treatment for the children in this area. .Satisfactory arrangements have now been made for the conveyance of children from Camp 4, there being seven who are at present availing themselves of this service
In his report, the head teacher stated that the roll number was now GO. Owing to the fall in attendance, the position recently vacated by Miss Thomson was not being filled. Tlje swimming season had been very successful, 17 children having gained certificates for distances, including four who swam a mile. There was also a life-saving team of eight pupils who were now ready for examination. The bi-monthly meeting of the Boy Scout committee was held in the No. 3 Y.M.C.A. Hall on Monday night. The following were present, Messrs. Osborne, chairman, J. Hilliard, C. W. Corkin, G. Read and Mesdames Gumming, Doyle and Pemberton. The coming New Zealand Jamboree at Wellington was .discussed, with the result that an endeavour was made to assist five boys to attend that gathering. The troop’s first birthday is to be held on Tuesday, May 23. Mr. R. Middloton-Taylor conducted the church service at No. 3 Camp last Sunday night. The Rev. C. Hyde from Wairoa will be the preacher next Sunday morn ing.
