MODEL KINDERGARTEN
DISPLAY AT EXHIBITION PRACTICAL USE LATER (Per Pross Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Plans for the erection of a model kindergarten as a separate pavilion at the centennial exhibition, afterwards to be re-erected as an actual children's schoolhouse in Wellington South, have been arranged by the Wellington Free Kindergarten Association, in conjunction with the exhibition authorities. The site selected for the kindergarten is on the left of the main gate of the exhibition and in face of the British Government pavilion. The building is a new dcoarture from the established precedents of kindergarten architecture. The building will be 78ft long by 30ft wide. In addition to the usual classrooms, cloakrooms and kitchen accommodation, it will incorporate a very urge enclosed sunroom and two open-air verandahs. On the close of the exhibition, the kindergarten will be dismantled •'•»°- re-erected on the site to be selected in Wellington South. Negotiations are at present being carried out through the Government for a suitable site where, in addition to rebuilding the model kindergarten, it will be possible also to establish a children's play area. It is estimated that the cost of the building completed at Rongotai, taken down and re-erected on its final site. will be only just over £3OOO. This has been made possible by the presentation by various firms in all parts of New Zealand of most of the materials required for the building.
