CLUB TENNIS TITLES GISBORNE EVENTS Final games have been played in the women’s singles, men’s doubles and women’s doubles in the -club championship series being -conducted by the Gisborne Lawn Tennis Club on the club’s courts in ICaiti. In the men s singles .and' tire combined doubles the semi-finals have been reached. The champion of the women’s section of the club for the season is Mrs. R. P. Baigent, who has shown excellent form throughout the championship series. To gain the title Mrs. Baigent played 12 sets and her performance in losing only two sets in five games is a meritorious- one. In all, Mrs. Baigent won 62 sets to the 33 won by her five opponents. In- the men’s doubles final D. E. Chrisp and A. Shorland had an even game with J. J. Steevens and G. W. Langhorne, the former pair winning by a small margin. In the women s doubles final Mesdames D. E. Chrisp and W. Neal won from Mesdames O. Simmonds and -Phill(potts, having a two-game majority in each set. In winning their title the victors did not lose a set in the four- games played. are as follows: Men’s Singles.—Semi-finals: O. 11. Simmonds d. J. J. Steevens, 3—6, 6—4, 6 —o; J. Madden d. A. R. Shorland, 2—6, 6—2, 6—4. Women’s Singles.—Semi-final: Mrs. W. Neal d. Mrs. O. H. Simmonds, 12—10, 6—3. Final: Mrs. R. P. Baigent d. Mrs. W. Neal, I—6,1 —6, 6—2, 6—4. Men’s Doubles. —Final: D. E.
