Details of the Federal Government’s new national health plan, which is proposed as a substitute for the abandoned national insurance scheme, were explained at a meeting of the representatives of the British Medical Association and friendly societies by the Treasurer, Mr. R. The sickness benefits would be on a family basis providing 15/- a week for a man, 10/- for his wife, and 5/* for each child, with a limit of £2. The Government would subsidise the scheme to the extent of £1,000,000 annually. The friendly societies and British Medical Association are meeting separately to examine the scheme.
