THE WEATHER Last Night’s Forecast General Situation: Pressure is again high over all the New Zealand area. In south-eastern Australia il is failing. Conditions are disturbed also in the tropics. Forecast: Winds, strong easterlies in the far north, otherwise light to moderate and variable, with southeast to north-east predominating. Seas: In New Zealand waters, rather rough to rough north of the Bay of Plenty, otherwise slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman: Light to moderate and variable winds, south-east to north-east predominating; seas, slight to moderate. Weather: Fair to fine in most districts and mild to warm. A little light rain possible, however, in the far north and south-west coastal areas, and some morning fogs. To-day’s North Island Report Blue skies were reported this morning Napier and ■ in the Bay of Plenty, but overcast conditions prevailed elsewhere in the North Island. Light variable breezes were reported. Tlie barometer showed little movement at a high level. Temperatures at t) o’clock were: Auckland and Opotiki G 5 degrees, Tauranga G 7, East Oapc G2, Gisborne GO, Napier 63, and Wellington 58. Moderate or .smooth seas were reported- everywhere. Midday Forecast General Situation: Pressure remains high over New Zealand but falling over Tasmania. A tropical depression is centred near Fiji. Forecast: Slight to moderate and variable winds • south-east to northeast prevailing and later freshening from the north-east, some morning fogs and light drizzle possible in a few places, but weather mainly fair and mild. Seas: Slight but increasing somewhat north of Hawke’s Bay.
