SOUTH POLAR QUEST

BYRD’S NEW EXPEDITION COAL IN MOUNTAINS (Reed. March 15, 9 a.m.) NEW YORK, March 14. A message from Miami (Florida) states that Admiral R. E. Byrd to-day said (that his next trip to the Antarctic, the date of which has not yet been set, will have far greater results than any venture since the settlement of America.

"I am going to see what is on the other side of the Pole,” he said. “I expect ito take possession of about 1,000,900 square miles. What is more significant for America is that I know there are mountains there with sufficient coal to take care of the needs of the world for some time. I looked into this area on the last trip.”
