A message from Budapest states that, alleging the Czech troops fired on them across the border, Hungarian troops advanced and occupied. Ocrhegyalja. They took a number of prisoners. Oerhegyalja is close to Nunkacevo. which was ceded to Hungary after the Munich agreement. Hungary sent an ultimatum to Prague demanding an answer in 12 hours agreeing to the immediate release of all Hungarian prisoners in Czechoslovakia and allowing the Hungarian . minority to organise in self-defence and carry arms and also that Czechoslovakian troops must evacuate Ruthenia in 24 hours. The friendly reference in the note to Slovakia is tantamount to a declaration of solidarity between Hungary and Slovakia Later it was officially announced that Hungarian troops were marching into the Carpathian Ukraine on an 18-mile front and meeting with occasional resistance. It is semi-officially stated in Prague that 80 Carpathian Ukrainian (Ruthenian) National Guard members and 30 Czech troops were injured during an abortive rising at Chust. The leaders fled to Rumania, after destroying a customs house with grenades and cutting telephone lines. Czech troops are wv.hdrawl:,; from the Ruthenian-Hungarian frontier. Movements of Polish troops are reported on the northern Ruthenian frontier.
