IN SELLERS’ FAVOUR
CROSSBREDS IN LONDON WOOL SALE OPENS GOOD COMPETITION The Bank of New Zealand has received from its London office the following cable advice, dated March 14: —“The wool sales opened with strong competition and a large attendance of buyers. There was an active demand from ail branches of the trade. Compared with the close of last series, Merinos were unchanged. Crossbreds were fully firm, with a tendency in sellers’ favour.”
The Bank of New South Wales advises that the London wool sales opened with good competition. Compared with last sale’s close prices for all descriptions were firmly maintained. Average or estimated prices of New Zealand greasy fleece ordinary topmaking wools are: Merinos, 60/64’s, lOd; halfbred, 56/58’s, lOJd; fine crossbred, 50/56’s, lOd; medium crossbred, 48/50’s, 9td, 46/48’s, 9Jd; coarse crossbred 44/46’s, 9i*d, 40/44’s, 9jd.
Messrs. Murray, Roberts and Company, Limited, are in receipt of the following cable message from London: —“Tlie London wool sales opened with a good tone, a good attendance of buyers, and keen competition. Bradford interests were the principal buyers, with the Continent operating moderately. Compared with last closing rates, the market for crossbred greasy is firm and shows a hardening tendency. Scoured and slipe show no change."
