LOOKED AFTER MOTHER DOES ALL THE HOUSEWORK Because of his love for his mother and of a vow made 50 years ago, Mr. William Smith, a 72-year-old Coventry man, has never married . Mr. Smith, who lives with his 95-years-old mother, Mrs. Fanny Smith, in Old Church road, Foleshill. has been faithful to the promise he gave when his father died 50 years ago, that he would look after his mother. He docs all the housework and cooks the meals. He has always lived with his mother, and has few regrets that he never married. For more than 20 years Mr. Smith has been a churchwarden at Foleshill Parish Church, and neither he nor his mother has ever been to the pictures. Mrs. Smith comes of a family noted for longevity. Her recipe for good health; early rising, hard work, and plain food. blood when he was in the tin and he said, ‘I am warm. Let me go to sleep.’ So we got on the roof and dropped a lot of bricks on his head, and when he was still we went away and left him in the bath.” When the boy was ordered to a remand home for seven days his mother asked: “Can’t he come home?” Mrs. Domain, chairman of the magistrates, exclaimed. “My goodness. I should think not. He might have committed murder.”
