YOUNG PEOPLE GATHER LEADER FARE WELLED A presentation was made at Saturday night’s united Christian service for young people in the Oddfellows’ Hall, Derby street, to Mr. Donald J. Heffernan, who leaves Gisborne on March 1 for Auckland to undertake a course of study at the New Zealand Bible Training Institute. There was a large gathering at the service and at the close the chairman, Mr. J. Stephens, presented Mr. Heffernan with a leather attache case and a dressing table clock on behalf of the ycung people. Almost three years have elapsed since the commencement of a series of Saturday night meetings and throughout that period Mr. Heffernan has taken a leading part.
The chairman referred to the regret that would be felt by all interested in the meetings at Mr. Heffernan’s departure. Mr. Heffernan returned thanks for the gifts and said that while he always would maintain a prayerful interest in the movement he also would look Took forward to further times of Christian fellowship when he visited Gisborne during his vacations.
An excellent supper was served,
