Bulk Supply Agreement For the purpose of discussing the terms of the new bulk supply agreement the Wlairoa Electric-Power Board and the Wairoa Borough Council will meet at 7.30 p.m. to-morrow.— Special. Wairoa Electricity Charges In view of the considerable time it would take up and owing to Cr. F. Berry’s absence, it was decided at the monthly meeting of the Wairoa Borough Council, that the discussion on. electricity charges should be held over untiL the next meeting of the council. Cr. Berry, who is away on holiday, communicated with the Deputy-Mayor, Cr. M. J. Gemmeli, and informed him that it was his intention to move a notice of motion in connection with the electricity charges.—Special.

Scott Expedition Flag Lady Maxwell, of the Isle of Bute, Scotland, who is a sister of Lieutenant 11. R. Bowers, of the Scott Antarctic Expedition, has sent to the Waitaki Boys’ High School her brother’s sledging flag, to be hung in the Hall of Memories. A duplicate was presented to the Polar Institute, Cambridge University. Lady Maxwell lias said that the flag is sent in recognition of the warm-hearted appreciation and commemoration of the expedition shown throughout the last 25 years by the annual memorial service at Oamaru.

Wairoa’s Government Houses Wairoa is to have an official opening ceremony when Its quota of Government houses is completed, and invitations to attend the opening will be extended to Government officials. This decision was reached at the monthly meeting of the Wairoa Borough Council on Friday evening, when the Under-Secretary for Housing, Mr. J. A. Lee, wrote to the member for the district, Mr. E. L. Cullen, M.P., inquiring as to whether Wairoa would be having an official opening as its quota of Government houses would be completed shortly. Special.

School Library Service At a meeting of the Tuvanganui Library Committee, held on Friday, it was decided to invite the chairmen of school committees and headmasters in the town and suburban schools to confer on the libraryaugmentation system introduced last year. By general consent, the scheme has been entirely satisfactory in its operation and results, and the method by which it is to be carried on, together with the question of admission of schools not already Included under the scheme, are to be discussed with chairmen and headmasters. The committee decided on a departure frbni a long-standing practice, involving a change of hours for Saturday attendance at the library. As from this week, the library will close at 12.30 p.m. on Saturdays and will reopen in the evening .from 7 to 8.30 o’clock.
