SALE OF CULL COWS POOL SYSTEM SUGGESTED At a meeting of the Tauranga branch of the Farmers' Union, the chairman, Mr. A. Harrison, made a suggestion that cull cows should be disposed of on the pool system, it being better that such cows should be sent to freezing works instead of being sold at saleyards. After discussion it was decided ithat members of the Omokoroa branch of the Farmers' Union be asked to attend the next meeting of the Tauranga branch.

The Hon. C. E. Macmillan said he would get in touch with Katikati and Omokoroa people Who were interested with a view to taking further action. The matter was left in the hands of Mr. MacmilLan. BLUE STAR LIMITED The report of the Blue Star Line, Limited, for the year ended December 31, 1937, states that after paying £88,132 interest for the year on the 5 per cent, guaranteed debenture stock, £35,305 on the 3 per cent guaranteed debenture stock, £22,089 interest on loans, and the 5 per cent dividend on the ordinary shares paid during 1937, the profit and loss account for the year, including the amount brought forward, shows a surplus of £145,527, 'which is to be carried forward.

The profits of subsidiary companies, including balances brought forward from previous years, have been carried forward in the accounts of those companies.

The directors recommend a dividend on the ordinary shares at the rate of 5 per cent, the same as for the previous year, absorbing £25,000. The total of the balance-sheet is £5,697,864. The fleet at cost, less depreciation, including outlay on tonnage in course of construction, stands at £2,560,191, and sundry debtors at £2,898,309. ,
