AUCKLAND CRICKETERS MARGIN OF 135 RUNS (Per Press Association.) TIMARU, this day. In a one-day game, the touring Auckland cricket team beat South Canterbury by 135 runs on the first innings. The home side batted first, making 78 (Smith 33). Sneddon took three wickets for 20 runs, Scott two for six, Weir two for eight, Sale two for one, and Cowie one for eight. Auckland replied with 213 (Wallace not out 72, Vivian 52 and Scott 35). Purcell bowled well, taking six wickets for 41 runs, Smith three for 53 and Taylor one for 17. At stumps the home side had lost three wickets for 44 (Smith 13). Jackman took one wicket for 14 and Pearson one for 11.
