UP TO 300 MILES HOURLY NEW BRITISH DESIGN STRATOSPHERE FLYING (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reed. Dec. 29, 9 a.m.) LONDON, Dec. 28. The aviation writer of the Daily Telegraph says that three land planes, airliners, are being constructed by Shorts, two of which are intended to operate at a height of 10,000 ft., carrying 18 passengers and 30001 b. of mail at a cruising speed of 250 miles an hour. The third machine is being designed for stratosphere flying. It is expected that its top speed will be 300 miles an hour. AH the machines will have a normal range of 3000 miles.
