Lady Anderson, the wife of Sir Alan Anderson, the Conservative member of the House of Commons for the City of London, escaped from a fire at Notgrove Manor in the Cotswolds by lowering herself down from a window ivith knoted sheets.
A maid ran through the snowstorm and gave the alarm. The fire engine was three times stuck in snowdrifts. The house, which for centuries has been the home of the descendants , f Dick Whittington, was severely damaged.
