TOURNAMEIsT TESTIS DAVIS CUP PROSPECTS (Elec. Tel. Copyright—-Unitoil Pi I '** ''» s ''- cßccd. Dec. 24, 0 a.m.) NEW YORK; Dec. 22. Gottfried von Cramm, the former German tennis champion, in a letter to Donald Budge, the American pro-

fessional, reveals that he is retiring from tournament and Davis Cup tennis and intends to enter a banking house. Budge, who expressed regret, said that von Cramm was one of the finest sportsmen he had ever, met. "Australia is thus the logical team to meet the United States in the 1939 challenge round. They will be our most dangerous rival," said Budge. The German Davis Cup player, H. E. Henkel, in an interview the other day, said that his former team-mate, Gottfried von Cramm, was in perfect condition after his term of imprisonment, and was eager to play international tenais. He would like to represent Germany in the Davis Cup. There is little chance of his turning professional.
