GERMAN RESENTMENT

SPEECH BY MR. ICKES (Rccd. Dec. 23, 2.30 p.m.) BERLIN, Dec. 22. Germany has presented a sharp note of protest to the United States against the recent speech made by the Secreary of the Interior, Mr. Harold L. Ickes, alleging that he used insulting and coarse remarks.

PROTESTS REJECTED AMERICAN FEELING (Reed. Dec. 23, 3 p.m.) WASHINGTON. Dec. 22. The State Department has emphatically rejected the German protests against the address given by Mr. Harold L. Ickes, and also criticised the German press attacks against President; Roosevelt's Cabinet. It is stated that Mr. Ickes voiced the feelings of an overwhelming majority, of Americans.
