The semi-final gallops in connection with the Auckland summer meeting took place at Ellerslie this morning, and some first-class efforts were recorded.

Features of the work was a mile and a quarter by the four Auckland Cup candidates, in which Mazir and The Buzzer impressed most, while Quadroon also pleased.

The oest half mile was credited to Submission and Smoke Screen and those to register the best figures over five furlongs were Disdain and Valerian, while Marie’s Acre was responsible for a good trial over six furlongs.

Trench Fight completed seven furlongs in 1.30 4-5, after taking 51 1-5 secs, for his first half mile. He was doing his work well at the finish.
