SALES IN HASTINGS
DRAFTS FROM GISBORNE
Two thousand of the sheep and a large draft of cattle offered at tlie Stcrtfbrd Lodge stock sale on Wednesday came from the East Coast, some as far north as Ruatoria. Theywere put on the road as far us Nuhaka, from which point they were railed.
The Coast sheep were early shorn lines off high country. They were well framed, land should develop well later. Coast lines sold as follows: —-
On account of Tauwhareparae station, Tokomaru Bay, and off high country, 544 well-framed early-shorn two-tooth wethers, in good store condition, having travelled well, sound and should develop well, 15s Id; on account of Totaronui station, Tokomaru Bay, 293 well-grown two-tooth wethers, a straight station line, early shorn, in good store condition, 15s 10d; on account of Titirangi station, Tolaga Bay, 298 two-tooth wethers, not so well grown and rather lighter in condition than the previous draft, but should develop well, 15s; on account ol' Tauwhareparae station, 405 smaller-framed two-tooth wethers, early shorn and in medium store condition, empty, 14s.
Cattle prices included: From Ruatoria, 31 empty Aberdeen AngusHereford cross cows, in very light condition, £4 ss; on account of Mr. S. Twigg, Mangaruhe, Wairoa, and railed to Longlands, 44 extra- wellgrown Aberdeen Angus bullocks, a few showing a Hereford cross, £lO 10s; out of the Ruatoria draft, 15 fairframed Aberdeen Angus-Hereford cross bullocks, in good store condition, £S 11s; from Ruatoria, a line of emioty cows, in very poor order, £3 Is.
