Stowe) was out before 5 o'clock so as to work the reverse wav round prior ,to the other horses being exercised. The Auckland Cup candidate was given a strong working gallop.

■Arachne sprinted half a mile in a shade better than 52sec.

Charles Hugo (R. Marsh) and Classical (J. Forsyth) beat Tapaurau (B. Stowe) over three-quarters of a mile in 1.20.

Tiger Gain (J. Forsyth) and Pladie (H. .Murray) were associated in a mile gallop for the former to have a two-lengths’ advantage in 1.50. Baatsong (J. Forsyth) shaded Blue Shirt (B. Stowe) at the end of seven furlongs in the fair time of l.sSj.

Halley (Kellctt) held the measure of 'Hunting Moments <C. P. Shields) over half a mile in 52scc.

Lady Stella (D. Colello) was sent a working gallop over'six furlongs in 1.22, finishing strongly. The best short sprint of the morning was recorded by Hagen (J. Forsyth) and Diana Tetrix (R. Marsh), when they look G4sec. for five furlongs. At the finish the latter was in front, but ITagen was allowed to loaf a little over the last half, furlong. Hagen is down to compete in the two hack races .on Saturday, but if present Intentions are carried out it will be the seven-furlong race he will start in. Red Rufus (H. Callahan), never looking better, was given a strong working gallop over a mile, the last six furlongs being run in 1.21 J. Kobi (J. Campbell) took 39\sec. to run three furlongs.

The best six of the morning went to the credit of Jazz Boy (H. Callahan) and Centrepoise (H. Murray), who were timed to run 1.173, with Trailer (J. Forsyth) two lengths further back.
