MANCHESTER UNITY

GISBORNE LODGE MEETING OFFICERS INSTALLED The fortnightly meeting of the Manchester United Oddfellows Loyal Gisborne Lodge, COB 7, was held last evening. The attendance was small as a result of the unseasonable weather. The principal business was the installation of officers, this being carried out by the group officer, Bro. F. T. Robinson, P.G. Congratulations were extended to the newly-installed officers, Bro. J. Clark, N.G., Sister R. W. Wallen, V.G., and Sister O. F. B«n----nister, E.S., and Sister S. E. Cousins, I.P.N.G. The secretary, Bro. C. H. Ambridge, P.D.G.M., and Bros. PI. T. Sinden and F. W. Nelson, P.G.s, referred to the efficiency of the officers, whose work in the lodge had reached a very high standard. Sister Cousins, who had reached her final chair, thanked lodge officers and members for the assistance given her during her, term.

A hearty welcome was extended to Bro. N. Burgess, P.G., a visitor from the Loyal Remuera Lodge, Auckland,

and after the honours of the order had been given Bro. Burgess extended an invitation to members wben in Auckland to visit his lodge. Bro. T. A. Perreau, P.G., Taneatua, was also present. Correspondence before the meeting included copies of the abridged resolutions and business of the meetings of the district management committee from March to October, and several items of importance were dealt with. The valuation report for the Auckland district as at December 31, 1934, was also received, this having been delayed through the Government losing its actuary. The secretary was asked to write to the district office requesting a full report on the working of the widows and orphans' fund recently established. A report on sick members showed

a large number still on the funds of the lodge, including many longstanding cases, one member having received sick pay continuously since 1915, another from 1920 and several i from 193 G. Eight members had died during the year. The serving of refreshments brought a pleasant meeting to a close.
