RAILWAYMAN RETIRING

MR. E. S. BRITTENDEN FORTY YEARS’ SERVICE (Pur Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. After 40 years’ service with the New Zealand railways, Mr. E. S. Brittenden, district traffic manager at Christchurch, will retire as from January 1, 1939. Mr. Brittenden, who is now 55 years old, has had a most successful career in the service and is one ofßhe best known railwaymen in New Zealand.
