REFUGEES FROM GERMANY
PLANS FOR MIGRATION
MEETING OF COMMITTEE GUILD REN REACH ENGLAND (British Official Wireless.) Rec. 2 p.m. RUGBY, Dec. 2. After a meeting of the vice-chair-man's committee set up by the Evian conference, a statement was issued that the director submitted a report on the work which had been done since last meeting. He 'was able to state that the prospects for the refuge and settlement of involuntary emigrants from Germany were steadily improving, but the establishment of orderly conditions or emigration continued to depend in a large measure on the attitude of the country of origin. After reveiwing the work of the committee, the meeting considered the future procedure and decided to leave it to the chairman, in. consultation with the director, to summon a meeting of the full committee in the near future. It was considered that a full meeting should be held in any event early in the new year.
Two hundred German child refugees between the ages of seven and 10 years arrived at Harwich. They seemed well and happy. A further 300 are expected next
week. The children who have arrived are mostly from the Berlin and Hamburg areas.
