INTER-HOUSE SPORTS
ARRANGEMENTS MADE 30,000 CLUB VENTURE At the monthly meeting of the Gisborne Thirty-Thousand Club last evening arrangements were completed for the inter-house carnival to be held on Saturday of next week. It was reported that training operations were well in hand and appreciative reference was made of the work of the instructors and the practical assistance from the Gisborne Amateur Athletic and Harrier Club, the Gisborne Y.M.C.A. and other organisations. A number of trophies had been donated for the fixture.
The programme approved included a procession in which 130 girl competitors would leave the Post Office at 7 p.m. for the Childers Road Reserve, headed by the W.E.C.M.R. Band. The evening’s programme will include an interesting series of events. The executive decided to give every assistance to the Returned Soldiers’ Association’s carnival at the Waikanae Beach on New Year’s Eve. Amongst the attractions at that fixture would be a fireworks display in which the Thirty-Thousand Club would be able to assist as the fireworks ordered by file club were expected to reach Gisborne in a few days. It was further decided to stage a queen carnival and art union in February next to assist the Waikanae Park centennial funds and preliminary arrangements for that campaign also were put in train.
