PERSONAL

Members of the staff of the Gisborne railway station met on Saturday to farewell Mr. B. A. Sinclair on the eve of his departure on transfer to the railway goods department, Wellington. On behalf of the staff, Mr. J. W. Fergie, stationmaster, presented Mr. Sinclair with a travelling bag as a mark of esteem. Mr. J. D. Kennedy, Auckland, has been appointed to succeed Mr. P. Everett, orchard instructor in Gisborne. Word has been received that Mr. Everett's departure for his new position ait Kerikeri may be delayed for several months, and similarly his successor in Gisborne'may not arrive here for some time. Mr. Kennedy hiad been orchard instructor attached to the Auckland office for some years.
