MISSION CONTRIBUTIONS
TRIBUTE FROM BISHOP A tribute to the generosity of the people of New Zealand, and of the people of the Waikato in particular, for the way in wljich they had contributed.! to missions, was paid by Bishop C. A. Chcrringlon, when speaking at St. Aidan's missionary festival at Claudelands, Hamilton. He said that by contrast *o the people of England, the people of New Zealand were extraordinarily generous. In England, many of the clergy's stipends were paid from sources other than the people'? contributions, while ' contributions to foreign missions in one parish in which he worked did not exceed £2O per annum. In New Zealand, church people had nothing provided for ihem, and bad to find all stipends and other church requirements In addition, the 25 parishes in the Waikato diocese bad found £2OOO toward missions last vear. He thanked the people for what they had done and hoped they would conI tinue the good work they were doing.
