The first day of the Waikato Racing Club's spring meeting attracted a large crowd. The weather was fine and the track excellent.

Second Division: 3-3 Orwew, coupled with Allnjutic (McLaughlan), 8.9, 1; 1-3 Royal Abb, coupled with Corato, 8.4, 2; 5-5 Kakartre, coupied with Helga (Winder),. 7.13, 3. Scratched: Chief Scout, liempton, High Sea, Maereana, Val Uu, Bronze Moth, Son of the Soil, and Spinning Wheel. Won by three lengths; and a length. Time, 1.15. Waimai Handicap Hurdle Race, of £:jo0; 1J miles.—l-1 Tail Light (Carroll), 10.2, 1; 5-5 Soho (Rohloff'J, 11.7, 2; 11-11 Mio Lume (Day), 9.0, 3. Scratched: Pango and Ngakaru. Won by 1£ lengths, and two lengths. Time. 2.44.
