TRIP TO WOQDYILLE

By "Trenton" De Friend has left to fulfil his engagement in the Alison Cup at EllersHe next Saturday. He won each day at the local meeting in effortless fashion, and since then he has :been kept going, so that he should prove one of the hardest to beat next Saturday.

Shipped to Napier

Hunting Royal was shipped to Napier on Friday night. He will join b. Ducker's team at Napier, which comprises Huntette and True. These three will probably make their next appearance at Wobdvilte on December 10. *

Skyway Absent

Skyway did not come home after the Napier Park meeting, and J Woods will probably go on to Woodville. Every Inch a Racehorse Sly Fox is back on his owner's property and is u vastly different looking horse from the Sly Fox thai nad become a familiar sight on the local training track. Lameness used lo trouble him a good deal, and nt often returned from a working gallop looking the worse for wear. However, ne now looks every inch a racehorse, and apparently lamness no longer Dothers him, as his legs appear to be very clean.

Stud, Duties?

Messrs. Smith Bros.' Legatee hai gone to Napier, but it is doubtful - ne will race, and stud duties; are at>parently his mission, Guiding- Light Guiding Light, a winner at the Napier Park meeting, will in futiir. be trained in Hawkes' Bay. For YVoodville Flying Comedy and Mendelssohn arcboth in fine trim and J. Nixon is giving them steady work with a trip to Woodville at the end of the monta n* view. take a good hack to beat either of these two.

Black Thread, who is now under J. Nixon's care, will probably accompany nis stablematcs. Although Ulaci. Thread has been restricted to pacework, he is bearing a much brighter appearance than for some time past, out it will be some time yet 'before ne is ready to show his best. Kiloniia Retired,

Owing to the possible chance of her suffering a permanent breakdown, the good handicap performer Kilonsa iKilbroney—-Alonsa) has been retired to the stud. Kilonsa, who.is owned by the Misses M. and N. Edwards, oi .viardella Stud, was raced under lease oy Mr. H. Lynn and was trained by H, Jury. Noted for her consistency and gameness, Kilonsa started 46 times during her career for nine wins, eight seconds and nine thirds, and her total earnings amounted to £2690. Kilonsh is to be mated this season with Dink. Slippery Destroyed

Following the breaking of a felloek joint and other injuries at Napier Park last Saturday, Slippery was destroyed during the week. Slippery, although continuously unsound from the beginning of his career, was a great moneyearner, for in seven seasons he won 35. races and gained 46 minor places. He aad a phenomenal three-year-old career, starting 29 times for 13 wins and eight placings. Slippery also received a broken rib by a kick from Tiger Gain, another horse in the race. Baron Injured

Following his two successes at the New Zealand Cup meeting, the Bulandshar colt Baran stood out as one of the most likely candidates for the Great Northern Foal Stakes on Boxing Day. However, he is now a very unlikely runner, as he was injured on the trip back from Christchurch. Another horse broke lose on the boal and savaged him, but this was not the worst part of his troubles, as he got down and cut his heel very deeply. On being taken off the 'boat he was a veritable wreck, and it is most improbable that he will race again for some months at the earliest; perhaps not again this season. Greyhound and Lawn Derby

Following the decision of a commirtee to citizens to guarantee £SOO toward the cost of the projected visit of the champion trotter, Greyhound, to New Zealand, a message is being sent to Mr. R. A. Smith, Los Angeles, a friend of the connections of Greyhound, and who was a prime mover in earlier negotiations last year, with the same object in view.

The clubs at Auckland, Wellington and Dunedin will be asked to stale what sum each will be prepared to contribute for a match between Greyhound and Lawn Derby. Since Ins brilliant racing at Addingtnn this month. Lawn Derby Has been mated with some of Mr. J. J. Brosnan's mares.

Lawn Derby's record mile of 1.59 2-5 is four seconds slower than Greyhound's world figures of 1.55 J, but, in the meantime he may be given an opportunity at Forbury Park of lowering the course record of 2.3 3-5. established by Indianapolis.
