REASONS FOR RESIGNATION \o OTHER COURSE OPEN (British OfUeinl Wirelims.) Reed. 1 p.m. RUGBY. Oct. 12. Mr. A. Duff Cooper to-day explained to the executive committee of the Conservative Association in his constituency his reasons for resigning on October 1 from his post as First Lord of the Admiralty. A resolution was carried to the effect that the committee realised that, having held his views, no other course was open to Mr. Duff Cooper. The committee, however, declared itself i ". complete agreement with the actions of the Prime Minister, Mr. Neville Chamberlain, and with the policy of the Government. The committee also declared if was satisfied that Mr. Duff Cooper, as long as he remained the member would direct his efforts and ability to the preservation of unity in the party and would support the Government, especially in the strengthening of the defences.
