EXPENSIVE ERROR
G.N GUINEAS' DIVIDENDS UNUSUAL HAPPENING By "Trenton" An unusual happening m connection with the paying-ol.il of dividends in the Great Northern Guineas was responsible Cor some dissatisfaction among a section of investors at Ellerslie on Saturday. The totalisator began paying out before the inquiry into the interference in the straight was completed and the judge's platings altered. As a result, some secured a winning dividend from Gay Son and others a second from Hot Box, the latter receiving only a third ox whal they would have obtained if they had ri,t collected until alter the placings had been altered and Hot Box promoted to first. On the other hand those who collected from Gay Son received a dividend which they would not have obtained if the payout had r.ot commenced until alter the inquiry had been concluded and Gay Son relegated to third. The number of tickets paid out on Gay Son and those paid as second on Hot Box arc not available, but it is probable that the early pay-out will prove expensive for the club. Some of those who collected only what he would have paid for second oil' Hot Box intend to apply for the difference between that amount and his dividend for first.
