HUNTING CAT AND NORA GREGOR CONVINCING WINS By "Trenton" Hunting Cat put up two first-class performances at the Hawkc's Bay .Jockey Club's meeting with a win in the main .event: on the first day and a third on the main event, of the second day after receiving anything but a good run over the last part of the mile and a quarter journey. On the first rii.y Hunting Cat was having his first r art since la.sl March and, with only
S 1. he won convincingly by a length from Master Cyklon, with Curio very close up third. The veteran Curie won well the second day by a head [rom Wotan, with Hunting Cat, carrying 8.10, three-quarters of a length away third.
A Brilliant Youngster
Nora Gregor, who simply outclassed tl i field in the Empire Nursery Hand jap at the Hawkc's Bay Jockey C: lib's spring fixture last week, is a brilliant two-year-old. In last week's r; :e nothing' had a chance with her. P. Atkins took her out in front and she \ is four lengths aiiead at the end of a furlong. Silver Bat was a possibility a. the turn, but Nora Gregor soon slowed that she is good by going on to win by live lengths. Nora Gregor is trained by J. Reid. She is in tin Wcllesley Stakes on the first day ol the Trentham meeting—October 20. She has a prior engagement to-day .at Masterton, where she has gone up 9st. on rehandicap to become top-weight in the Nursery Handicap.
