In the .semi-finals of the Berkeley tennis tourney Hopman (Australia) beat Gene Smith. o—4. 2—G. 6—3, 6—-3. Tite Australian's placements and generalship were too much for the Callfornian. In the women's singles final, Madame Mathieu (France) beat Miss Wynne (Australia), o—l, o—o. Miss Wynne was erratic and faulted freauently.
