Mrs. Robert Pycroft, Auckland, is the guest of Mrs. W. L. Mitchell, Fox street.
Mr. W. T. Duckworth, who ha: been employed by the Premiei Drapery Company, Palmerstoi North, for 17 years, has been appointed manager of McGruer’s, Feilding, in succession to Mr. E. 11. McGrucr.
Mr. E. W. Parr, B. E. Assoc M Inst. C.E., A.M.lnst.M. and CyE. (Wellington) was among those who passed the final examination of the Town Planning Institute, held recently in London. Mr. Parr, who left New Zealand early in 1935, is now an assistant civil engineer with the Admiralty, and is at present stationed at H.M. Dockyard, Devonport. Mr. Norton Francis is to be nominated for life membership of the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Francis, who has been a member of the council since 1919, and an honorary member for some years, was president of the Associated Chambers of Commerce in 1936, and president of the Canterbury chamber from 1928 to 1930. The nomination, endorsed by the unanimous vote of the council of the chamber, will be considered by the annual meeting of the chamber next Week.
