BASIS OF COMPENSATION FIVE-DAY WEEK (THE ED (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The Appeal Court to-day delivered a judgment ol' interest to the coal mining industry. The judgment concerned was in the double case of Jenkins v. Glen Afton Cutleries and Wilkinson v. Glen Alton Colleries, which was heard by the court on September 30.

In the course of the judgment, the court unanimously agreed that the agreement entered into between the employers and workers provided for a live-day week and that any work done on Saturday was overtime. Compensation woidd therefore have to be assessed on the basis of a five-day week.
