CRICKET SEASON AWAITED

INTEREST IN GISBORNE An increase in the number in Gisborne interested in cricket was remarked upon last evening .at the meeting of the management committee of the Poverty Bay Cricket Association when advice was received from the Gisborne Borough Council that it agreed Jo provide three wickets on the Childers Road Reserve. The question of the amount to be paid by the association for the upkeep of the new wickets was left in the hands of Messrs. J. deV. W. Blathwayt, H. E. Maude, and D. A. Wells. In past seasons the association has had only eight wickets to cater for the three grade competitions and it was expected this year that there would be two women’s teams and more urgent need for the 11 wickets.
