BROTHERHOOD OF ARMS

GREAT WAR MEMORIES PLEDGE OF FRIENDSHIP GRAVES AS REMINDER (Reed. Oct. 11, noon} ROME, Oct. 10. “The old Anglo-Italian friendship still lives in the hearts of Britons and Italians. The graves of the British dead are honoured as a pledge of eternal friendship” said Marshal Caviglia at the annual .meeting of the British and Italian War Graves Committee. ■ He said he hoped that the mutual brotherhood of arms would never be broken. Lord Cavan, replying, said that Britons fully appreciated Signor Mussolini's help at the Munich conference, which showed that problems could be settled by discussion and also the important part which Italy and Britain together could play in endeavours for peace. The British delegation was vividly impressed with the Italian friendliness, both in official contacts in Rome and the spontaneous welcome of the population of the war grave areas. Signor Mussolini cordially received the British members of the War Graves Committee. Major-General Sir Fabian Ware, the permanent vicechairman of the Imperial War Graves Commission, thanked Signor Mussolini for his efforts at the Munich conference.
