PLUMBER’S HEAD INJURED
SEVERE GASH INFLICTED STRUCK BY IRON SHEET The strong north-westerly wind yesterday afternoon was responsible for an unusual accident in which a plumber, Mr. Edward Felton, aged 32, a married man, residing in Disraeli street, was struct on the head by a sheet of corrugated iron. Carried by a strong gust of wind from the other side of the roof on which he was working, the iron hit Mr. Felton on the back of the head, inflicting a severe gash. Mr. Felton, who was employed by Messrs. T. Moss and Son, was engaged in laying felting and wire netting on the roof of a new house in Stout street, while on the other side plumbers were proceeding with the work of fixing the iron. An exceptionally fierce gust of wind lifted a sheet* of •iron measuring about sft. in length high into the air and. passing over the top of the roof, it landed on Mr. Felton’s head as he was bending down at his work.
The injured man was. able to climb down from the roof and was conveyed by his companions to a doctor, who ordered his removal to the Cook Hospital. Mr. Felton was reported this morning to be progressing satisfactorily. ■•>£ j
