INJURED MAN’S ORDEAL

HALF-MILE CRAWL DARWIN. Aug. 19. After he had been run down by a train and severely injured, Stanley John Wilson, aged about 35, unemployed, of Darwin, showed amazing fortitude by crawling for nearly half a mile through scrub to a camp several miles from Darwin. One arm was badly injured, his thigh was crushed, and he was suffering from head injuries. When he reached the camp he was on the verge 'of collapse from shock and loss of blood. Mr. Wilson was rushed to the Darwin Hospital, and a number of men were awakened to ascertain whether their blood was suitable for transfusion. A blood transfusion was made, but Mr. Wilson is in a serious condition, although it is believed that it may not be necessary to amputate the injured arm.
