COAST PRESBYTERIANS
MEETING AT TOKOMARU ISTRICT QUOTA FINANCE (Herald Correspondent.) The annual meeting of East Coast Presbyterian congregations was held in Tokomaru Bay, the district moderator, the Rev. A. J. 11. Dow, presiding. It was agreed that the church should be controlled by a central committee comprising six members of the Tokomaru Bay area and others from Tikitiki, Ruaioria, and Tolaga Bay. The following were elected:—Tokomaru Bay, Messrs. H. M. Jackson, J. Todd, J. S. Nugent, S. G. Doig, E. Knox, and T. Blair; Tiki-tiki, Mrs. E. W. Hobcroft and Miss Banks; lluatoria, Messrs; H. F. Smyth, W. H. O. Johnston and C. Wilson; Tolaga Bay, to be elected.
A suggestion was made that each district should be responsible for a definite financial quota towards the church funds, and this met with general approval.
A recommendation was made to the committee that the question of the purchase of another ear for the minister should be investigated, and that in the meantime an allowance should be made to the minister for running his own private car.
Mr. Nugent proposed that a young mail should be engaged to visit the northern portions of the Coast, particularly Te Araroa, Hicks Bay and along the Bay of Plenty towards Opotiki, 'but the moderator held out little hope of such an extension in the near future.
At the close of the meeting, supper was served by the Ladies’ Guild, and the minister, the Rev. A. Fothcringham, thanked the moderator for his attendance at the meeting.
