SCENES OF GAIETY

BALL FOR CHILDREN TK IT A PAR.VS SITCKSS CROWD AT (MTV HALL The postponement of children’:dances arranged by other schools in the 'town and suburban area, owing to inclement weather during the past fortnight, did nothing to detract from the success of the Te Hapara School's ball, which was held last evening tinder the most favourable auspices. The City Hall was crowded with happy young people and their adult connections. and a colourful scene was presented during the progress of the folkdancing and marching which were lectures of the programme. Music was provided by Mr. A. Pilkington's orchestra, and the staff and committee of the school received much assistance in- the conduct of the function from parents cf pupils. The number of fancy costumes was well above the average, and some exceedingly happy ideas were exploited in 'the more notable of the costumes. At an interval in the dancing .he chairman of the school committee. Mi . W. T. Traue, thanked the pubi.c 'Jor its support of the ball, and the teachei.-. for their work in training the children in their folk dances, which had been excellently dene, more particularly 'oy the infant classes.
