"THE BEST TONIC"

MEETING THE PEOPLE MR. SAVAGE PLEASED CANTERBURY RECEPTIONS NORTH TOUR PLANNED (Parliamentary Bopoiter.) WELLINGTON, this day. The Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage, who has returned to Wellington after his visit to Canterbury, declared that meeting the people was a better tonic than all the chemists' shops in the Dominion could provide. He obviously found it difficult to express to the interviewer the depth of his appreciation of the receptions in town and country. "The policy of the Government," he declared, "seems to have gripped the imagination of the people, and such expressions of goodwill as I enjoyed must have some foundation, and it. makes life worth while. As soon as we have taken the first step to get the social security legislation going, I will go north to Marsden and Kaipara. Later on, I must meet the people who represent the member for Wallace. "And," he concluded with a broad smile, "I might be able to help the member for Wallace."
