Mr. Ronald C. Gibbons, M.Sc, Canterbury University College, Christchurch, lias left for Australia to take up a position as a metallurgist at the South Mine. Broken Hill.

Mr. O. K. Steele, who is wellknown in commercial circles throughout New Zealand has returned to Wellington after a visit to England and Scotland, where he successfully underwent a serious operation.

Mr. J. Begg, Dunedin, a member of the New Zealand Meat Producers' Board, arrived in Gisborne last night from Napier to meet meat producers of the Gisborne district. He addressed a meeting this afternoon.

Mr. Angus McDonald will leave by the Niagara from Auckland next week on his way to Glasgow to join the Union Company's new steamer Komata as chief engineer, Mr. McDonald joined tlie service of the Union Company in 1910 and was promoted chief engineer in 1925. During the war Mr. McDonald served the New Zealand Expeditionary Force in France and Belgium. He Was wounded in 1918 and after his recovery, was given a commission as en-gineer-lieutenant on the Royal Naval Reserve.
