KOPUAWHARA NEWS

(Hcirald Cornispondent.) Arbor Day was observed at the main school at No. .3 Camp on Wednesday. In compliance with suggestions made by the Department of Education, to mark the one hundredth anniversary of settlement in New Zealand, a shrubbery consisting of native plants was established, and in addition, every child from Std. 1 upwards, as well as most of the primers, planted a tree in the new shelter belt on the eastern boundary of the school grounds. At the conclusion of the tree-planting activities, everyone proceeded to the Y.M.C.A. Hall, where the children were served with afternoon tea. Mr. J. Kennedy, in charge of the Y.M.C.A. at No. 3 Camp, has resumed duties after an absence of three weeks caused by a severe attack of influenza
