CHEMICAL IN CARROT

MAN AT HORSE'S STALL TROTTING INQUIRY SYDNEY, July 20. A happening at the Harold Pari; trotting meeting on July 11 has been the subject of inquiry by the New South Wales Trotting Club stewards, whose report is being awaited with much interest. The inquiry should be completed towards the end ui l!lis week. The stewards learned at (he trotling meeting that a person, unassociatecl with any horse, had been seen with ;( carrot at the stall of a prominent pacer. It is believed that the carrot was intended for consumption by the horse before he went out to compete in his race. Officials took possession of the earrot, and the stewards gave orders that it should be sent to experts for analysis. The horse started, and won his race. ft is believed that the analysis reported that the carrot was found to contain a chemical which would have acted quickly, and made a horse drowsy.
